The site visit of the International External Expert Commission to Kazakhstan Medical University “KSPH” took place on 28–30 January 2026.

The site visit included both an institutional and specialised evaluation of educational programmes (Master’s degree, PhD doctoral programmes, and residency programmes).

The Commission was chaired by Professor A.V. Balmukhanova and included international experts: Professor Peter Wushou Chang, MD, MPH, ScD, FRCP, FPH — Scientific expert of European Commission Risk Assessment Advisory Committee, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, UK), Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH, UK), and Vice-President of the International Health Literacy Association; Professor Yordanka Uzunova — Head of the Pediatric Clinic at Lozenets University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Sofia, Bulgaria), Member of the Bulgarian Pediatric Association, the International Liver Transplantation Society, the European Society for Organ Transplantation, and expert of the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The Commission also included academic experts, employer representatives, and learner representatives from universities of Kazakhstan. The review assessed the University’s institutional governance, quality assurance system, and the implementation of its educational programmes for compliance with accreditation standards developed in alignment with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Global Standards for Quality Improvement in Medical Education (2020 and 2023 editions).

The site visit was conducted in accordance with the approved programme and included interviews with stakeholders, review of documentation, and validation of the self-evaluation reports, as well as verification of qualitative and quantitative performance indicators.
