From June 9 to July 3, 2020, The Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA) conducted an online professional development training for experts on accreditation of medical and pharmaceutical education. The duration of the professional development cycle on "Professional training of experts in accreditation of basic and postgraduate medical and pharmaceutical education" was 54 academic hours, which was followed by certificate issuance. 23 people attended the online training: employees of medical universities, scientific centres and institutes of the Republic of Kazakhstan. All videos of the online sessions are uploaded to the ECAQA YouTube channel that provides access to the training participants.

The following issues are included in the training programme: International and National Context and Prospects for Accreditation; Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015); WFME Global Standards for Quality Improvement 2015 – BME, PGME; Accreditation of Basic Medical Education; Standards for Institutional Accreditation and specification of Standards and their interpretation during self-evaluation; Approaches to the examination of an Institutional Self-Evaluation Report, preparation of reviews; The procedure for external evaluation of educational organisations: planning an on-site visit, assigning roles to members of an External Evaluation Commission, organising the on-site visit, building questions for interviews with stakeholders, developing recommendations for improvement, developing recommendations for the Accreditation Council; The role and involvement of students in the accreditation process; Acquaintance with the WFME Global Standards for Quality Improvement in BME 2020 draft version.

On June 24, 2020, The Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA) took part in the Internet-Based Seminar of The World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). The WFME webinar was organized under the title – “WFME perspectives: effects of the 2020 pandemic on the accreditation and practice of medical education”. The Internet-Based Seminar addressed influence of the pandemic on accreditation of medical schools, discussed the standards for distance learning in medical education, adapting and augmenting the WFME Recognition of Accreditation Programme.

On June 23, 2020, The Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA) took part in the Global webinar of The International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). A series of INQAAHE webinars have been organized under the title – “Online Assessment: Best Practices and Practical Solutions”. At the first online meeting, recommendations for quality assurance of distance learning were discussed, and experts in the area exchanged knowledge and best practices. Specific solutions were proposed to maintain education quality and continuity during the global pandemic.
