On October 28, 2020, AppliedHE (Singapore), partner of The Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care, held an international webinar on AppliedHE™ XCHANGE CAR+RUSSIA for all organizations in higher education.

The first speaker of the webinar Ms. Mandy Mok, CEO and Founder of AppliedHE Pte LTD, presented a new unified brand for all employment-ready, future-focused higher education that prepared students for a clearly defined job or occupational pathway – Applied Higher Education (AppliedHE™).

Mr. Pieter Stek, Chief Analyst of AppliedHE, introduced the methodology of the AppliedHE™ JOB-Ready Rating, which was a multi-dimensional rating system that included the perspectives of students, faculty, employers and alumni, providing an all-round perspective of an institution. The speaker also highlighted the methodology of EMI-Ready Rating.

The new World University Research Ranking (WURR) was presented by Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng, Ranking Author & Associate Provost of Research & International Relations, Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD).

On behalf of ECAQA, ECAQA Director General S.S. Sarsenbayeva provided an opening speech and observed the international webinar.

More than 100 representatives of 60 organizations and universities from 14 countries of the world took part in the webinar.

On October 6, 2020, Saule Sarsenbayeva – Director General of The Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA) – took part in a roundtable discussion on Dialogue with an Accrediting Agency that was organised as part of the CORPORATE MANAGEMENT. ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE SUCCESS international forum.

The subject of her presentation was The Features of Accreditation of Programmes in Healthcare.

Saule Sarsenbayeva elaborated on the system for monitoring and evaluating the quality of higher education in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the features of accreditation of medical education, the current reform of medical education in Kazakhstan. The speaker also provided information about ECAQA, the competitive advantages and accreditation tools, strategic directions of development.

The roundtable discussion included the exchange of experience of accrediting agencies and organisations in quality assurance of education from Moldova (Stela Guvir, ANACEC), Germany (Victoria Tishanski, FIBAA), Philippines (Myrna Q. Mallari, AACCUP), Great Britain (Matthew Kitching, EUA).

The international forum highlighted the issues of sustainable development of higher education in the world, and the quality of training.

Professional development training for experts on accreditation of medical and pharmaceutical education.

From June 9 to July 3, 2020, The Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA) conducted an online professional development training for experts on accreditation of medical and pharmaceutical education. The duration of the professional development cycle on "Professional training of experts in accreditation of basic and postgraduate medical and pharmaceutical education" was 54 academic hours, which was followed by certificate issuance. 23 people attended the online training: employees of medical universities, scientific centres and institutes of the Republic of Kazakhstan. All videos of the online sessions are uploaded to the ECAQA YouTube channel that provides access to the training participants.

The following issues are included in the training programme: International and National Context and Prospects for Accreditation; Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015); WFME Global Standards for Quality Improvement 2015 – BME, PGME; Accreditation of Basic Medical Education; Standards for Institutional Accreditation and specification of Standards and their interpretation during self-evaluation; Approaches to the examination of an Institutional Self-Evaluation Report, preparation of reviews; The procedure for external evaluation of educational organisations: planning an on-site visit, assigning roles to members of an External Evaluation Commission, organising the on-site visit, building questions for interviews with stakeholders, developing recommendations for improvement, developing recommendations for the Accreditation Council; The role and involvement of students in the accreditation process; Acquaintance with the WFME Global Standards for Quality Improvement in BME 2020 draft version.

In March 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between The Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Education and Healthcare (ECAQA), Republic of Kazakhstan, and The National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC), Republic of Moldova. http://www.anacip.md/index.php/en/home-en-gb/missions

The areas of Understanding include:
1. Exchange of experience in external evaluation and accreditation of educational organisations and educational programmes;
2. Nomination of accreditation experts for the External Evaluation Commissions on accreditation;
3. Joint activities on the quality assurance of education and accreditation;
4. Preparation of joint publications on accreditation in education;
5. Participation in events, which are organised by the partner.

The ANACEC is an administrative authority that is subordinate to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova.

The ACACEC’s mission is to implement the state policy on quality assurance of all levels of education and research, which is focused on the best international practices and quality standards contributing to greater economic competitiveness and social cohesion in the Republic of Moldova.

The aim of ANACEC is to ensure an integrated, reliable, objective and transparent system of external evaluation and accreditation of educational institutions and educational programmes, external evaluation of organizations in the field of research and innovation, evaluation of scientific and scientific-didactic staff, control of the quality of all levels of education, including vocational education, higher and continuing education in the Republic of Moldova.
